For this month’s feature, we would like to highlight one of our teammates who has the longest tenure with Citius Solutions, Yheng from QA Department! She has been a shining star at Citius for 9 awesome years. Her dedication, expertise, and positive attitude have made a significant impact on our Quality Assurance Department.
Our marketing team had a great opportunity to sit down with her in a casual conversation. We are lucky that despite her busy month-end schedule, she was still able to make time to share her experience. Definitely, her story is inspiring!
Here are some of the questions our team asked her:
How did you start in the company, and how did it progress to your current role?
- I heard from an ex-colleague that Citius Solutions was hiring for agents so I immediately applied. Lucky enough I was considered for the role but after knowing I was hired, I had to wait months before learning when my official start date was. It even reached the point where my mother asked if I was really hired (lol). Despite this experience, I still waited for Citius since I feel that this is the company that I can work with — and I’m glad I waited.
- While working as an agent, there were times where I felt discouraged since most of my teammates are already getting their leads and were awarded with incentives while I had nothing. With the help and motivation of my team and manager at the time, what I initially manifested came true! I finally got my first lead and it continued the next day and before I knew it, I was awarded as one of the Top Performers.
- Manifesting is not just enough, you also have to pair it with being consistent with your good performance. I believe that management saw my determination and decided to promote me to be part of the QA team.
What were some of the biggest challenges you faced during your time here, and how did you overcome them?
- Hmm… it has been a bit challenging for about a year or two now since I’m working directly with the client, there has been a significant increase of workload as well as some urgent requests as well as the targets to complete.
Yheng also shared that there were some really tough times on her Citius journey. When she was moved to a different account, she had to unlearn and relearn the process, work with a new team and really had to start from scratch. It was a different ballgame with this new account since they had to review and validate a hundred leads with just two of them in the team. At one point, she started questioning if this was really something she can do but she persevered and continuously believed that it would eventually get better — and it did!
Which of Citius’ core values resonate with you the most?
- Integrity. As someone who works in QA, its a must to work with integrity. There are times that I hear some agent’s feedback that I’m being unfair during QA calibration sessions but I stick to the correct process to this day. I maintain this not just in work but also as a person.
How do you keep yourself motivated to work?
- Whenever I feel stressed out and drained from work, I usually spend time with my son. I also talk to my supervisor, she’s the one closest to me in the team. I share everything to her. Her open-mindedness and wisdom is one of the reason why I stayed in the company. I love her, she’s one of the best!
What would you tell someone who recently joined the company so they can be inspired to stay as long as you?
- Our leaders are very supportive and are open minded when it comes to company issues and, to a certain degree, personal problems too. I can really say that they have been with me through thick and thin! I’d like to share my experience with our leaders, especially with Miss Pinky when she was there to console me when I lost my mom 2 years ago due to cancer. She was also there to provide support when my son was hospitalized a month ago. I also remember one time in the office where she told us her experiences. Her experience reminded me of my mom and since then she has become like a mom figure to me.
- One unexpected thing she did was when she invited me and my family to her birthday early this year. When I got to the venue, I was surprised that only a few selected people were invited and I was overwhelmed to know that she remembers me on such an important event.
Someone in your caliber may have received a lot of offers outside of Citius. What made you stay?
- There are indeed a lot of offers and opportunities. As a licensed teacher, I sometimes even ask myself why I’m still in the company when I have the option to teach in public schools. Maybe one of the reasons is because I am attached to the leaders. I see them as my second family. Also, the flexibility that I enjoy in the company allows me to be present with my son’s progress now that he is starting preschool. Did you know that my son is actually a Citius baby? haha … everyone in the management support team knows him since I met his father in Citius!
- I’m sure there are always better opportunities outside Citius. Maybe in the future I will consider it, but for now it’s not something I have in mind since I’m still happy here.
What’s your message to everyone in Citius so they will be inspired to stay as long as you?
- We actually have our moments at work. Breakdowns. Burn out days. Stress days. Trust me, I felt all of that and continuously feel that to this day. I can’t invalidate other’s feelings if they feel the same. But we should always remember that’s how work goes. It’s not always chill or relaxing days but there are times also that we have to be busy and all. It’s best to always go back to your motivation so you know how to bounce back when these days hit.
